North County MLB Spotlight 7-9-17 The Houston Astros defeated the Toronto Blue Jays by a 19-1 score as former Palomar College product James Hoyt made an appearance in relief today where he pitched 1 inning and struck out 2 Toronto batters.

Former LaCosta Canyon product Mickey Moniak went 2 for 4 in the contest as he hit a two run homer in the 3rd and a single, scored 1 run along with 2 rbi's and paced the Lakewood Blue Claws by a 4-0 score over the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the San Diego Padres by a 7-1 score as former Vista High product Trevor Cahill suffered the loss at 3-3 as he pitched 5 innings gave up 6 hits 4 runs that were earned and 8 strikeouts.

The Seattle Mariners defeated the Oakland A's by a 4-0 score. Former Palomar Product Nick Vincent made an appearance for the Mariners as he pitched 1 inning.
