Oceanside Adventures Has Whales, Swordfish & Patches Good Time
The waters along Oceanside's shoreline are teeming with life as a recent whale-watching cruise was delighted to discover.
OCEANSIDE, CA — A recent whale-watching cruise with Oceanside Adventures was fortunate to encounter a bounty of sea life off of our nearby shores.
The first encounter was with this playful Swordfish that put on one of the best displays that the Oceanside Adventures crew ever recorded.
Next the passengers were treated to an encounter with a trio of northbound Gray Whales that seemed happy to spend some time hanging out and showing off for the camera.

The last encounter of the day included a celebrity sighting of "Patches" the dolphin with friends.
'Patches' is a black and white leucistic bottlenose dolphin that may be the most famous dolphin in Southern California. Without a doubt, he has superstar status in Oceanside, where sightings of the uniquely colored dolphin are celebrated and documented.

Oceanside Adventures has been recording sightings and sharing photos and videos of Patches for over 10 years. Patches even has his own webpage where people can submit their own sightings of the rare dolphin.
Oceanside Adventures offers year-round whale and dolphin tours. Currently, the gray whales are migrating from December through April. We also see Fin whales and minke whales year-round. In summertime, we see the humpbacks and blue whales and we have 4 species of dolphins, so there is always something to see no matter what time of the year you go. Check their website for details and special events throughout the year like their Wine cruise on the first Saturday of each month featuring Beach House Winery.
