Oceanside Fire Destroys Three-Car Garage, Damages Two Classic Vehicles

BREAKING: Firefighters had the fire under control in less than 20 minutes and kept the flames from spreading to the house.

OCEANSIDE, CA – A fire destroyed a three-car garage and damaged two classic vehicles stored inside late

Wednesday night, fire officials said.

Officials with the Oceanside Fire Department said one of the residents at 1021 South Clementine St. smelled smoke just before 11 p.m. Wednesday and went to the garage to investigate. When he arrived, he saw smoke coming from the garage, went back inside the house to alert the other two residents to evacuate and called 911.

Within minutes, firefighters arrived to the scene, had the fire under control in less than 20 minutes and kept the flames from spreading to the house.

Officials said the damage is estimated at $100,000, split evenly between the structure and the contents. The two classic vehicles, a Thunderbird and a Model A, were significantly damaged. No injuries were reported.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire. One of the residents said he had been working in the garage up until a couple of hours before the fire started.
