“We have a very large military presence with approximately 100,000 uniformed military personnel assigned to seven bases in the San Diego area and thought a ‘Stars and Arts’ patriotic theme would be very appropriate for this month’s First Friday Art Walk,” said Susan Brown, president of the Oceanside Friends of the Arts.
The Oceanside Art Walk has seen a steady increase in the number of participating artists and venues for its monthly event since it re-started in March under the new direction of the Oceanside Friends of the Arts. “We continue to add artists and venues in downtown Oceanside and this month have expanded to include the outdoor, Regal Cinema Plaza area that will be filled with new artists and two live music bands,” says Brown. Also added as a new venue this month is Harcourts Sand and Sea Properties, located at 804 Pier View Way.

One of the new bands coming to Art Walk is No Static, from Vista, CA, a dynamic, hard-driving rock band with a soul-catching bluesy edge. Formed in 2016, No Static consist of guitarist Robbie Kental, drummer Eric Dowdy, bassist Cody Knudtson and vocalist David Meriwether. They bring years of experience playing in several local bands such as Zero Gravity, Tainted Society and B-Wilde.
The Art Walk will once again feature a collaborative artist participation painting on the canvas inside the Muramid Art Museum where anyone, young or old can participate with local artists to create a unique mural. “This has been especially popular with the children and budding artists who have attended previous Art Walks,” says Brown.
VIP bracelets for Art Walk guests can be picked up at Oceanside Artist Alley and Century 21 at the corner of Mission and Coast Highway. These bracelets entitle the guests to coupons and discounts from participating venues/artists.
The Oceanside Friends of the Arts, a Non-Profit 501c3 Foundation, was established in 2016 with the goal of promoting Oceanside and surrounding communities as an important arts, culture, entertainment and tourism hub/destination that catalyzes economic prosperity and a high quality of life for Oceanside’s future. Fundraising proceeds will go to support First Friday Art Walk and scholarships for high school graduates to further their art education.
