“May 5th is a great day to complement our monthly Art Walk event as we will be bringing in several live bands with festive music and dance to celebrate Cinco de Mayo,” said Susan Brown, president of the Oceanside Friends of the Arts.
As a special featured attraction this month in conjunction with Art Walk, the Muramid Mural Museum and Art Center located at 212 F North Coast Highway in Oceanside will host 50 women and men who support women artists during the “2nd Annual Bad As* Women’s Expo”. Women artists ranging from painters, musicians, poets, authors, performers and dancers are scheduled to share their expressions with the community in Oceanside’s emerging “hot spot” for cultural activities where the Muramid Mural Museum is located in Artist Alley. Local, national and international muralists and artists, including one of the world’s best (Mario Torero) have been featured in the Alley. Some of the participating artists will include Ruth Jameson, Beatriz Hidalgo, Lindsay Carron, Isabel Zamen, Krista Timberlake, Nellie Lepe, Natalia Garin, Marilyn Huerta, Sheila Montez, Kelly Halloran and scores more.

“This month’s Art Walk promises to be bigger and better than ever with the addition of the Cinco de Mayo and Bad As* Women’s Expo, said Brown. Last month we had 22 venue’s with several dozen artists who displayed pop-up art, jewelry, sculpture, ceramic, glass, photography and paintings amongst a backdrop of live music performances and culinary samples. A complete listing of our upcoming Venues and Artists can be found at www.oceansideartwalk.org.”
VIP bracelets for Art Walk guests can be picked up at the Oceanside Friends of the Arts Patio, Oceanside Artist Alley and Century 21 at the corner of Mission and Coast Highway. These bracelets entitle the guests to coupons and discounts from participating restaurants/artists.
Oceanside Pedi-Cab will also be offering transportation between venues and art exhibits for attendee’s. Main pick-up locations will be at the Oceanside Museum of Arts and Artist Alley, or you can call the phone number for pickup that is printed on the back of the Art Walk maps available at the event.
The Oceanside Friends of the Arts, a Non-Profit 501c3 Charity, was established in 2016 with the goal of promoting Oceanside and surrounding communities as an important arts, culture, entertainment and tourism hub/destination that catalyzes economic prosperity and a high quality of life for Oceanside’s future. Fundraising proceeds will go to support First Friday Art Walk and scholarships for high school graduates to further their art education.
The Muramid Mural Museum and Art Center opened in December of 2015 and has become a cultural gathering place and “photo stop” in Artist Alley over the past year, featuring multiple genres of artists with a primary focus on murals. The Museum was founded by Joanne Tawfilis and her husband Fouad, and is also a Non-Profit 501c3 Charity.
