Here are the top stories today in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton:
- Three suspected catalytic converter thieves were arrested near Oceanside police headquarters on Monday. A bystander saw three men attempting to steal a vehicle's catalytic converter, but before they could flee the scene, the bystander smashed their windshield. After they were arrested, "a search of the suspects' vehicle was conducted and nine catalytic converters were found in the trunk, along with cutting tools and a hydraulic jack consistent with the tools utilized in the theft of catalytic converters," according to Jennifer Atenza, spokesperson for the Oceanside police. - The warm weather of the last few days is about to turn cold and wet throughout the county. According to the National Weather Service, Oceanside can expect to see rain off and on throughout the week. A "High Surf Advisory" is in effect through Thursday for dangerous swim and surf conditions. New Year's Eve is stacking up to be a soggy one, but we could see some clearing on New Year's Day. Don't get too excited though, because another storm is predicted for Tuesday.
