Here are the top stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:

  1. Oceanside Police launched a new crime-mapping tool called FirstWatch. The online tool makes it convenient for people to learn of crimes reported throughout Oceanside. Funded by the Measure X sales tax revenue, the map aims to provide a sense of calls that the department is responding to, overall police response in the city, and enhance public safety. Residents are encouraged to take a look at areas that surround their residence and places they frequent around the city to increase situational awareness. To view the FirstWatch crime map, visit the Oceanside Police Department website. (FOX 5 San Diego)
  2. A woman who alleges she was given a C-section without anesthesia at Tri-City Hospital in 2017, lost her lawsuit to the government last month. Delfina Mota claims that she refused the operation without anesthesia, but the hospital staff said she agreed to it since her baby was in peril. "U.S. District Judge Anthony Battaglia, who presided over a bench trial regarding the lawsuit, ruled in the government's favor. In his written ruling, the judge said that while Mota did not receive general anesthesia, she had received other forms of anesthesia prior to the operation." (Patch)
  3. "The Women's Resource Center received a $20,000 contribution from 'Let Oceanside Vote' volunteers to support victims of gender-based violence. The impact of gender-based violence is wide-ranged, always varied, individual to each situation -- damaging not only to victims' physical safety, financial stability, and mental health -- but also to the well-being of entire communities and future generations. WRC offers a safe, non-isolating environment for survivors and their children to rest, recuperate, and plan next steps." (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
