Breezy with variable clouds. High: 72 Low: 39.
Here are the top five stories today in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton:
- The Oceanside Police Department is asking for the public's help locating at-risk missing person Edgar Cruz. He is a 74-year-old Hispanic man last seen on foot at the 3200 block of Mission Cove Way, Oceanside. Cruz suffers from Alzheimer's disease. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
- Goodwill provides Oceanside with so much more than just a thrift store. Donating and shopping at the Oceanside Goodwill is good for your wallet, the environment and helps provide training and employment programs free to the community. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
- The newest exhibition at the Oceanside Museum of Art celebrates the storied career of the Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist, Don Bartletti featuring photography captured throughout his over 40-year career. Bartletti's work has been featured throughout California including in the San Diego Union-Tribune and the Los Angeles Times. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
- The Oceanside City Council voted 3-2 to approve a downtown eight-story building with 115 studio apartments topped by 64 hotel rooms. But almost nobody was happy about it. Several longtime Oceanside residents said the project was too tall, too dense, and would not fit in. "It sets a precedent that grossly distorts the downtown skyline," said Lisa Hamilton, a member of the Oceanside Coastal Neighborhood Association. "We ask that the project stay with six stories." (The San Diego Union-Tribune)
- The Oceanside City Council approved the Love the O interactive sculpture proposal to be installed at the Oceanside Harbor. The Love Lock sculpture will be placed so the sun will be captured at sunset in the sculpture's open heart center to create opportunities for dramatic, fun photos. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
