Here are the top stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:

  1. A Camp Pendleton Marine died in a rollover crash on Wednesday morning in Oceanside. The 20-year-old female driver veered off the I-5 freeway around 6:15 a.m. and rolled down an embankment. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and the driver was alone in the car. The cause of the accident is unknown and is under investigation. CHP officials stated, "Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to have contributed to the cause of this traffic collision." A Camp Pendleton official statement said, "We can confirm that a 3rd MAW Marine was found deceased following a single-vehicle accident on I-5 Northbound near Oceanside Boulevard." (ABC 10 News San Diego KGTV)
  2. The Oceanside Unified School District board meeting on Tuesday turned controversial when several people asked for a number of books to be banned from the school libraries. Most of the books include LGBTQ-related content that the requesters say is not appropriate for certain ages. However, many in the crowd were emphatic that the school district continues to make such books accessible to students. Some supporters of the book removals were accused of either not living in the district or not having children that attend the schools. Oceanside Superintendent Dr. Julie Vitale stated, "Of the 11 books on the list, four were in our library previous to this board being seated and one goes back as far as 2010." (Fox 5 San Diego)
  3. The Oceanside Farmer's Market is one of 33 across the county. While the Oceanside market is on Thursday, you can find a nearby farmer's market on any day of the week. Only one market is on Monday, but seven different markets are held on both Saturday and Sunday, which means fresh, local food is available every day.
