- A car that attempted to breach the gate at Camp Pendleton on Friday evening crashed and burst into flames, resulting in the temporary closure of the base's main gate. Video circulating on social media apparently shows the car in flames and with considerable damage. "The MCB Camp Pendleton Provost Marshall Office deployed the final denial barriers and disabled the vehicle." officials tweeted. The identity or motive of the driver remains unknown. (Patch)
- A skydiver from GoJump Oceanside is lucky to be alive after his parachute failed to completely open and he fell from the sky last Friday. While the man did survive he suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to officials. After falling at an "accelerated pace" the skydiver struck the roof of a home near the Oceanside Airport before landing on the ground between two homes. The man was airlifted to a local trauma center. (AP NEWS)
- Camp Pendleton has a Noise Advisory in place through February 5th. The base is "warning the public that training operations will be continuously firing high-power explosive munitions from Saturday, Jan. 28 to Sunday, Feb. 5., which will likely create loud sounds and vibrations over the next week." Live fire exercises may be heard throughout any time of the day or night. (Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton)
- Black History Month Art Exhibition at Pacific Coast Spirits & Kitchen is this Wednesday evening.
