- KOCT recently interviewed each of the candidates running for the 49th Congressional District for the North County Roundtable Election 2022 Edition. In this sixth episode, host Kent Davy interviews 49th Congressional District Candidate Renee Taylor (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
- A Camp Pendleton Marine has admitted to cyberstalking and extorting several women from his former hometown of Torrance. Johao Chavarri, 25, of Oceanside, has agreed to plead guilty to three counts of stalking, which carries a total sentence of up to 15 years behind bars and a fine of $750,000, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Prosecutors said the alleged "sextortion" threats continued in some cases for more than a year. (Daily Breeze)
- From Saturday until Election Day, North County voters will be able to vote at early voting centers at 39 locations around San Diego County. Select vote centers will be open daily from May 28 until June 6 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to San Diego County. Vote centers will also be open on Memorial Day. (Carlsbad Patch)
- The tarballs that were recently spotted in the water and along the beach near the Oceanside Pier were likely from natural seepage, according to the latest update from the city. The CA Department of Fish and Wildlife, Office of Spill Prevention and Response (OSPR) obtained samples of the material and the preliminary results indicated that the tarballs found on the beach in Oceanside were showing "fingerprints" relating to natural seepage. No indicators of any production processes were found in the samples. (City of Oceanside)
- Rep. Mike Levin announced that Rose Teding, a longtime resident of Oceanside, is his May Constituent of the Month. As president of the Woman's Club of Oceanside, Rose Teding has been donating more than half of her time in a volunteer capacity to the Oceanside community for years. To celebrate Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, Rep.
