Here are the top stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:
- Oceanside votes to place the city's investments into the hands of professionals. "Those hoping to run for Oceanside's city treasurer position must now meet minimum education and professional requirements after a City Council vote Wednesday. The city treasurer is responsible for overseeing the management of the city's $500 million investment fund. It is an elected position in Oceanside, but in most cities in the county, like the city of San Diego, the city treasurer is appointed." (Voice of San Diego)
- The 2022 KOCT Annual Fundraiser Bash is tonight! Support your local Oceanside Channel KOCT-TV and get tickets for the Oceanside gathering of the year. "The annual KOCT bash is a fun evening of food, drinks, raffle prizes, silent auction, live entertainment, dancing, studio tours, and friendship." Join local celebrities, industry leaders, city officials and your neighbors at this must-attend event. (KOCT-TV)
- Veterans have a new mental health resource available in Oceanside. "The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic opened its doors on Wednesday for active duty service members, veterans, and their families. Its purpose is to meet the increasing mental health needs of the military community. 'Many of our families can't afford to pay $2 to $3 million a session, so they can come here to this clinic and get care with no barriers. If you can't afford it, we'll figure it out,' said Dr. Anthony Hassan, the president of Cohen Veterans Network. His organization is committed to reducing veteran suicides and increasing care for service members." (KPBS)
- 'Tis the season when Amazon is looking for holiday workers. "Retailing giant Amazon announced it has begun hiring 1,500 seasonal workers in the San Diego area to help with holiday package deliveries. ... Amazon said starting pay will vary, but average $19 per hour."
" 'Whether someone is looking for some extra money for a few months or a long-term career, the holidays are a great time for people to join Amazon, and many of our seasonal employees return year after year or transition into full-time roles,' said John Felton, Amazon's senior vice president of worldwide operations. Interested candidates can see all open positions and apply at www.amazon.com/apply." (Patch)
