ONE MORE TIME: Last night, the Padres fell 8-3 to the Cincinnati Reds, and the Padres are now 4-2 against the Redlegs in 2017...the Padres have won seven of their last 11 games played at Great American Ball Park and three consecutive series opposite the Redlegs in Cincinnati, dating back to May of 2014...following today's game, the Friars will return to the West coast to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers for the fourth series of the season...it will be the second time in 2017 that the Padres will have played at Dodger Stadium and the first since San Diego opened the season on the road.
- Last night, LHP Travis Wood was saddled with his first loss as a Padre, tossing 5.0 innings of seven-hit ball and allowing six runs (five earned) while striking out seven...Wood allowed a pair of home runs, and the last time he relinquished multiple home runs in a game was on July 4, 2016 vs. CIN, while with the Chicago Cubs.
- INF Wil Myers homered for a team-leading 22nd time this season.
- OF Manuel Margot knocked his 10th home run in the sixth inning to put the Padres on the board...Margot has 26 extra-base hits this season and a team-leading 27 multi-hit games.
SET FOR LAMET: RHP Dinelson Lamet (Dee-NEL-son luh-MET) has earned three consecutive victories, becoming the third Padre hurler to earn a win in three straight starts this season (joining Luis Perdomo from June 23 to July 5 and Jhoulys Chacin from July 20 to August 1)...a win today would make him the first Padre to record a win in four straight starts since Jesse Hahn did so in 2014...during his current winning streak, Lamet has pitched to a 1.96 ERA (4 ER, 18.1 IP) with 18 strikeouts and a .172 opponent’s batting average.
STRIKEOUT KING: Among pitchers with at least 12 games started, Dinelson Lamet ranks seventh in the Majors with a 11.37 strikeout per nine innings ratio and third in the National League, behind only WSH Max Scherzer (12.33) and ARI Robbie Ray (11.45)...his 80 strikeouts this season are the fifth-most in the Majors among rookies and fourth in the NL among rookies.
MANUEL ON A MISSION: With his homer last night, OF Manuel Margot became the first Padres center fielder in club history to hit 10 home runs in his rookie season...along with Margot and OF Hunter Renfroe (who has 20 home runs), only one other Padres team in franchise history had two rookie outfielders with 10-or-more homers (2009, Kyle Blanks and Will Venable).
VS. CINCINNATI: The Padres' collective .297 batting average against the Reds this season is tied for the highest against any opponent the club has faced thus far in 2017 (also hit .297 in three games vs. KC).
JOSE CAN YOU SEE: In six games against the Reds this season, INF/OF Jose Pirela is now hitting .458 (11-for-24) with a .519 OBP, a .833 SLG, three doubles, two homers, five RBI and nine runs scored...his .458 batting average is his highest against any club this season.
TALK TO THE HAND: LHP Brad Hand has tossed 24.0 innings without allowing a single run...it is the longest active scoreless streak in the Majors, and Hand's streak is now the third-longest scoreless inning streak by a reliever in Padres history (Cla Meredith set the franchise record in 2006 with his 33.2 innings without allowing a run).
HERE'S YANGERVIS: INF Yangervis Solarte has hit safely in his last five starts, batting .421 (8-for-19) with two home runs four RBI and three multi-hit games...with multiple hits last night, he has two-or-more hits in four of his last six games, and his 23 multi-hit games are the second-most on the team, behind Manuel Margot's 27...dating back to the 2016 season Solarte has hit safely in his last 10 games against Cincinnati, hitting .436 (17-for-39) with one double, two home runs, seven RBI, eight runs scored, a .463 OBP and a .641 SLG.
ENCINITAS LITTLE LEAGUE: The Encinitas Little League juniors team (ages 13-14) will represent the Western United States in the Juniors World Series this weekend...the San Diego club will play Texas on Sunday in Michigan...the Padres will honor the team at Petco Park on August 28 as part of the larger youth baseball/softball recognition night.
PADRES ON DECK: Last night, Single-A Lake Elsinore’s C Austin Allen went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI, and DH Kyle Overstreet was 3-for-4 with two doubles.

- DH Rafael Ortega logged three hits yesterday for Triple-A El Paso, making it the eighth time this season that he has amassed three-or-more hits in a game.
DATES IN PADRES HISTORY: On August 10, 1987, RHP Jimmy Jones tossed a two-hit, complete-game shutout, and catcher Benito Santiago hit a two-run homer in a 2-0 Padres victory vs. ATL at San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium...Jones issued one walk and struck out four Braves.
- On August, 11, 2009, 1B Adrián González recorded the only six-hit, nine-inning game in Padres history as San Diego logged 22 hits as a team in a 13-6 win at MIL...González went 6-for-6 with three RBI and a franchise-record five singles in a game with one double...the Padres also set a franchise record with 48 at-bats in a nine-inning game.
