• Coastal Commission picks townhomes not park on Carlsbad land (inewsource.org) — In a closely watched meeting at the Oceanside Civic Center, the California Coastal Commission voted 7–4 to back Carlsbad's plan for 120 townhomes instead of a long-sought park near South Ponto Beach. Oceanside-area residents who packed the hearing argued the last big coastal parcel should stay open for recreation, but commissioners ultimately prioritized housing needs while noting other park projects and beach access nearby.
   

• Oceanside Shock Announce Broadcast Team for 2026-27 (northcountydailystar.com) — Oceanside's new pro hockey team, the Oceanside Shock, has named veteran San Diego broadcasters Craig Elsten and Michael Metzger to call all 28 home games from Frontwave Arena, with live coverage on the team's YouTube channel. The inaugural home broadcast is this Saturday evening when the Shock host Fresno, and tickets for the full home schedule are already on sale.
