OCEANSIDE, CA — An investigation was under way Wednesday night into the shooting of a man on an Oceanside street.

Officers responded at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday to the 1200 block of Division Street — south of Mission Avenue near Oceanside High School — and found a 23-year-old man on the sidewalk suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to Oceanside police Lt. Matt Cole.

"At least one witness described a black vehicle, possibly a Toyota Camry, occupied by four males as being the vehicle from which the gunfire originated," Cole said. "The vehicle then drove off westbound on Division."

The victim was taken by ambulance to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido and is expected to survive his injuries, the lieutenant said.
