📢 The Oceanside Chamber will hold its 14th Annual North County Health & Wellness Fair on August 11 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. The North County Health Fair is free to the public and a great way to receive information, meet a new health specialist or learn more about healthy living. Located at the beautiful Oceanside Civic Center Plaza, the North County Health Fair will run concurrently with the Thursday Farmer's Market. More info

  1. Did you know you can run for Oceanside City Council in the November 8 election? The filing period for candidacy begins July 18 and ends August 12.   2. San Diego County Crime Log: A look at some of this week's police, fire and courtroom stories from across the county. Four men were charged with federal drug trafficking in connection with one of the largest meth seizures in San Diego County. A car veered off a residential street in Vista, plowed into a house, and sparked a small fire. San Diego Lifeguards pulled a body from Sunset Cliffs. CHP Officer was shot at during an attempted traffic stop near Rincon. (Patch)
  3. San Diego Humane Society is waiving pet adoption fees in an effort to make space at its shelters. The nonprofit organization is running low on space, especially for large dogs, after taking in more than 275 stray pets following the Fourth of July. San Diego Humane Society is open for walk-in adoptions from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday at its campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside and San Diego.   4. Ten Things to Do in San Diego This Weekend: July 14-17. San Diego Pride Festival; Watermelon Festival at Mellano Farm Stand in Oceanside; Mo's Kpop Summer Beach Fest in Oceanside; Imperial Beach Sun & Sea Festival; Point Loma Summer Concerts; Summer Festival Jazz Concert in Coronado and more are happening around the county this weekend.   5. Two suspects were arrested in connection with Monday's spree of robberies and shootings — including two killings — at 7-Eleven stores across two Southern Californian counties, authorities said Friday. The first arrest was announced by the Orange County District Attorney's office on Friday. The La Brea Department later said two people have been arrested in the case. (Orange County Patch)
