0n 7/26/2021, at approximately 0927 hours this morning, the Sheriff's Transit Enforcement Unit was dispatched to an incident regarding a train versus pedestrian strike that occurred at the Carlsbad Village Station in Carlsbad CA.  At approximately 0921 hours, an AMTRAK Surfliner train was travelling northbound, passing through the station when it struck a white male adult.  The track speed for this location is 90 mph.  The train was travelling at a speed of approximately 84 mph.  The male was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Carlsbad Fire Department.

Deputies are investigating the incident and manner of death will be determined by the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.  Identification of the victim has not yet been made and is still unknown.
