SAN DIEGO NOTES
- Starter Clayton Richard tossed the Padres first complete-game shutout of the season…it was his sixth career complete game and his third career complete game shutout (last: August 8, 2012 vs. CHC)…the last time a Padre threw a complete-game shutout was when Andrew Cashner did so on September 15, 2014 vs. PHI.
- The Padres stole four bases in the fourth inning, and it was the first time they have stolen four-or-more bases in a single inning since October 2, 1999 at ARI when the team combined to steal five bases in the top of the seventh …the five stolen bases by the Padres today are the most they have had in a single game since September 20, 2013 vs. LAD.
- Wil Myers logged a career-high three stolen bases in today’s game including a steal of home base in the fourth inning…it is the second time this season that Myers has stolen two-or-more bases (also, June 13 vs. CIN)…the last Padre to steal three bases in a game was Travis Jankowski on August 1, 2016.
- Myers is just the third first baseman since 2000 to steal three bases in a game…SD Ryan Klesko did so on May 24, 2001, and ARI Paul Goldschmidt also stole three on October 1, 2016…Myers is the first Padre to ever steal three bases in a single inning (ELIAS).
- The last time a Padre stole home in a double steal was on August 10, 2011 at NYM, in the top of the 9th inning when Jesus Guzman stole home and Aaron Cunningham stole second base (ELIAS).
· Cory Spangenberg tied his career-high eight-game hitting streak with his bunt single in the sixth, batting .419 (13-for-31) with two doubles, a triple, four home runs and 10 RBI during his hitting spree.
- The Padres swept the Phillies for the first time since they won three-straight from July 31-August 2, 2000.
