Among those on hand to christen the resorts were Mayor Esther Sanchez, Councilmembers Peter Weiss, Ryan Keim and Kori Jensen. They were joined by former Mayors Jim Wood and Terry Johnson, who were commended by Mayor Sanchez for their help in making the development possible. The Mayor also singled out many current and former city staff for their individual contributions.
The Senior Vice President of S.D. Malkin Properties, Jeremy Cohen, also thanked everyone in Oceanside for supporting the hotels. "We hope it will be a watering hole for the local community and a focal point for regional recreation." said Cohen. He also praised the Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) Executive Director, Maria Mingalone, for her help in making the OMA West Collection happen. This rotating art gallery at The Seabird Resort will serve as an extension of the museum.

One of the more touching moments of the event was the dedication of the Wood Library named for former Mayor Jim Wood, who attended the event by wheelchair.
