Suspect Killed In Deputy-Involved Shooting In Oceanside
The suspect was believed to have been armed with a pistol during the pursuit from Vista into the area southeast of MiraCosta College.

OCEANSIDE, CA – At least one sheriff's deputy opened fire Wednesday on a man possibly armed with a gun, killing him, following a North County pursuit.
The chase, which began in Vista, ended shortly after 3 p.m., when the fleeing driver got into a collision at Camarillo and Roselle avenues in Oceanside, said Tom Bussey, a spokesman for the latter city's police department.

At that point, the suspect, who was believed to be armed with a pistol, got out of the car and ran off. Moments later, gunfire erupted.
The suspect, whose name was not immediately available, died at the scene, Bussey said. No other injuries were reported.

A woman who had been riding in the suspect's car was taken into custody for questioning. Her name also was not released.
Authorities shut down traffic lanes around the site of the shooting to allow detectives to document evidence.
It remained unclear early Wednesday evening why deputies tried to pull over the suspect in the first place, Bussey said.

OCEANSIDE, CA – A vehicle pursuit in North San Diego County ended in a deputy-involved shooting Wednesday afternoon in Oceanside.
The pursuit started in Vista and ended in Oceanside. The gunfire erupted about 3:15 p.m. in the 3700 block of Roselle Avenue, just north of State Route 78, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
The suspect, who was believed to have been armed with a pistol during the pursuit, was reportedly wounded. The suspect's condition was not immediately known. No deputies were injured.
Police shut down traffic lanes near the site of the shooting to allow law enforcement to document evidence. The investigation was being headed by the Oceanside Police Department.
No other information was immediately available.
