So, to start this review off, think of walking into the mall and going to the food court, there is always a Mongolian grill/wok place, but sometimes you don't want to go to the mall to have to eat this type of food, so now there is the next best thing. What you say? An actual Mongolian Grill Restaurant, in fact the only one I know of in the North County part of San Diego and perhaps for miles after that.
I actually found this place while surfing the web looking for a place just like that without having to go to the mall, and found this as the "ONLY" open restaurant. So, off we go for the review of Stir Fresh Mongolian Grill http://www.stirfreshgrill.net/index.html
For those that don't know what a Mongolian Grill is, well it is that place where you create your own stir fresh, it's actually Mongolian barbeque. it consists of thinly sliced frozen meats, chopped vegetables, noodles and sauces are set out salad bar-style. You go through the line and put the ingredients you want in your meal into a bowl. You then give the bowl to the barbeque chef, who is working a large, flat, very hot griddle. Because of the heat of the griddle, the food is cooked in front of your eyes in just a matter of moments. You can say it's a stir-fry that combines the customization of a salad bar with the cooking style of a Japanese teppanyaki grill.
You'll learn as you continue to frequent this restaurant, exactly how to stack up your bowl to get the best meal on the first trip through. The employees are constantly refreshing the meats, stocking up the vegetables which are nice and crisp and fresh, they are constantly cleaning up the counter to ensure you are not passing through a messy bar. The sauces they have whether you choose ginger, soy, hoisin, chili sauce, garlic oil or many of their other sauces, your meal will be fantastic.
I enjoy this place, also at your table the wait staff brings you steamed rice and delicious pocket sesame seed biscuits they call Shau Bin, they are nice and warm when they come to your table and definitely a good addition to the meal. They also serve other items as well on their menu, they serve fried rice, egg drop soup, fried shrimp, cream cheese rolls and kids menus also. We ordered their fried shrimp, it's an order of 4 and they are big shrimp, very simple but good in taste. We also ordered their chicken fried rice, they do use the same thinly sliced chicken they have in the bar, but they do season the rice good and they give you a big order. Although you make your own meal, this is definitely a place to go for fresh food and not a mall atmosphere, I highly recommend this place to sit and have some good stir fresh Mongolian food, it definitely stays busy. The prices are great for this place it is a $ on a scale of $$$$.
