Sugar Bear Foundation Raises Funds for Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation

For our first event we have partnered with the Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Marathon & Half in an effort to give back.

The Sugar Bear Foundation, a local non-profit formed in honor Lieutenant Colonel Mario “Sugar Bear” Carazo, is honored to raise funds for the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. Sugar Bear gave his life in service July 22, 2010, when his AH-1W Cobra was shot down while supporting Marines engaged in a firefight.

For the foundation's first event, they have partnered with the Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Marathon & Half. Sugar Bear and his family have lived in Carlsbad since 2001. There is even a banner of the late Lieutenant Colonel on Roosevelt Street. To learn more about the Sugar Bear Foundation and their efforts, click on the link.
