On July 22, 2010, my husband, Lieutenant Colonel Mario Carazo was shot down and killed while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan. Since Mario’s death, many organizations have reached out to support our family.

One of those organizations, Angles of America's Fallen has made a significant impact on our family. Angels of America’s Fallen honors ALL of our fallen; those who fell in training, in combat, from illness while serving, and from invisible wounds after their service. Angels recognize the sacrifice they made, and the sacrifices their families continue to make EVERY day. They believe they have an obligation to help the children of the fallen as they grow up without their parent.

Angels of America’s Fallen is committed to helping children of our fallen military and first responders develop into strong and successful adults by providing them positive mentoring and developmental activities when they are at their most crucial developmental phase of life.

Both of my children, Mario and Milla, are supported by Angles, in their respected activities of tennis and dance. Their support has enabled Mario and Milla to fulfill their personal goals as well as add to their emotional well-being.

Last year, to give back, I decided to host the Lieutenant Colonel Mario Carazo Barbeque and Beers to raise funds for Angels and help get more children off of their waiting list. The event was a success, and we raised over ten thousand dollars.

In May 2016 I had the opportunity to form the Sugar Bear Foundation in honor of-of my late husband. The Sugar Bear Foundation is a 501 ©(3) Non-Profit that supports the surviving spouses and children of Fallen United States Military personnel by hosting events for charitable programs.

We are thrilled to announce Sugar Bear’s Barbeque and Beers to support Angels of America’s Fallen, Sunday, January 29, 2017, At Kansa City Barbeque from 12:00 -4:00 PM. http://kcbbq.net/
