Sun Shines on Marine Corps Appreciation Day at Petco

The Padres and USAA honored the U.S. Marine Corps on Sunday, June 26, in the third game this season of the 2011 Military Appreciation Series, even pulling out a 4-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves on a sun-filled afternoon behind a four-run eighth inning.

Sunday's special pregame ceremony to honor the Corps included the National Anthem performed by 1st Marine Band, and before the seventh-inning stretch, Cpl. Lindsay Sayres, USMC, sang "God Bless America."

The Padres also hosted the United States Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard, the only remaining mounted color guard in the Marine Corps today.

Marines and drill instructors from Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, filled the stands in upper right field to root on the home team.
