Suspect Sought In Deadly Hit-And-Run Crash With Bicyclist In Oceanside

It is believed that the driver of the Kia lives in the neighborhood of the crash, police said.​

OCEANSIDE, CA — Authorities sought the public's help Thursday in finding the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Oceanside.

A bicyclist was struck by a hit-and-run driver around 11:35 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of state Route 76 and Singh Way, according to the Oceanside Police Department.

The bicyclist was flown to a local trauma center in critical condition. The victim died while being treated at a hospital, police said in a news release.

A bicycle with major damage was found about 2 miles down the road, near the intersection of SR-76 and College Boulevard, police said. Pieces of a silver Kia were found on the scene.

Police were searching for the vehicle that was involved in the crash. The vehicle is a silver 2013-2015 Kia Optima that will have damage to the right front bumper, and missing parts to the engine under cover and the right headlight, according to police.
