Tri-City Hospital Foundation's Diamond Ball Breaks Attendance Records

The annual black tie, philanthropic gala raised more than half a million dollars to fund life-saving technology at Tri-City Medical Center

Tri-City Hospital Foundation’s annual Diamond Ball gala raised more than $500,000, exceeding an especially high goal set in honor of the Foundation’s fiftieth anniversary this year. Funds from the black tie affair will assist Tri-City Medical Center in acquiring a state-of-the-art GE 512 Slice CT imaging system, resulting in faster diagnoses and advanced treatment options for patients at the North County community hospital.

“This was a record-breaking Diamond Ball event, and the fact that it aligned with the fiftieth anniversary of the Foundation made it even more special,” said Glen Newhart, CFRE, Executive Director of Tri-City Hospital Foundation. “Our community support has been overwhelming, and their contributions are making a direct and positive impact on the health of their friends, family and neighbors. This CT imaging system will build upon Tri-City Medical Center’s innovative offerings and enhance outcomes for patients facing general medical, cardiac and neurological conditions.”

The new imaging system will be available to the more than 70,000 patients utilizing the Emergency Department, as well as enhancing Tri-City Medical Center’s Cardiovascular Health Institute with precision imaging for decreased radiation exposure, earlier and quicker diagnoses and more efficient treatment of cardiac conditions, heart attacks and strokes. Through the new device, physicians will have access to the most clinically advanced imaging system in the world.

Diamond Ball was a hot ticket in San Diego, selling out a month before the event. 10 News anchor Kimberly Hunt served as Mistress of Ceremonies for an evening of dinner, dancing and celebrating better health in the North County. Vista residents Bob and Sandee Carter were honored with the Tri-City Hospital Foundation Legacy Award, which recognizes extraordinary members of the community committed to improving the lives of others through their actions, accomplishments and generosity. For years, the Carters have been devoted supporters of the Foundation and patients at Tri-City Medical Center. Bob once served and Sandee continues to serve on the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, and Sandee also gives her time by chairing a number of Foundation events.

Upcoming opportunities for community giving and involvement include the Fashion That Heals luncheon and Tails on the Trails Dog-a-Thon in spring 2015, an all-new golf tournament in fall 2015 and ongoing Foundation partnerships.
