'Tails on the Trails' Charity Dog Walk Sets Funding Tails Wagging

Sponsored by Tri-City Hospital Foundation and Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary, the event will lend a paw to animal-focused healthcare recipients

This May, fundraising in San Diego will be going to the dogs – and that’s a wonderful thing. For the second annual Tails on the Trails charity dog walk, Tri-City Hospital Foundation and Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary are teaming up to get pets and people moving, all for the good of local animal and healthcare organizations.

Happening on May 30, 2015, Tails on the Trails will bring better health and joy to the North County community through donations to Tri-City Medical Center’s Pet Therapy Program; which has a team of 15 therapy dogs, big and small, who are carefully screened and trained to safely interact with patients; the Special Care Foundation for Companion Animals; Tender Loving Canine Assistance Dogs for Wounded Warriors and Tri-City Hospital Foundation. From 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., two and four-legged attendees alike will come together at Mance Buchanon Municipal Park in Oceanside for a day of exercise, education and giving back. In addition to plenty of time to walk and play, the event will feature K-9 squad demonstrations, live music, food and educational booths and sessions from Tri-City Medical Center, rescue groups, adoption groups, pet vendors and more. Animal lovers will also have the chance to meet “celebrity” Jiff the Dog, who holds a Guinness World Record and considers stars like Katy Perry friends.

“Tails on the Trails had an amazing turnout last year, and we look forward to an even greater success for 2015,” said Glen Newhart, CFRE, Executive Director of Tri-City Hospital Foundation. “The positive impact dogs make on the health of people, whether their owners or patients they visit, is undeniable. It’s fantastic to see people and pets banding together to bring comfort and happiness to wounded or ill members of the community – this is a true feel-good event.”
