Woman Leads Officers on 3-Hour Chase from Los Angeles to Pala Mesa: CHP

PALA MESA, CA — A woman led authorities on a nearly three-hour car chase Monday on freeways and surface streets from Los Angeles County to San Diego County, where the car was boxed in on a cul-de-sac by CHP officers who took her into custody near Pala Mesa.

The chase began about 4:15 a.m. on the eastbound Ventura (101) Freeway in the Woodland Hills area, said California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada. The woman was driving erratically and was regarded as possibly driving under the influence, Posada said.

The motorist led officers on a chase onto the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway and over various roadways, including the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway, and entered Orange County shortly before 5 a.m., Posada said.

The sedan entered San Diego County near Camp Pendleton, continued south on Interstate 5 then headed east on state Route 76.

At one point, news video from the scene showed the car dragging its bumper after being struck by a CHP officer's cruiser in a residential area near the state Route 76/Interstate 15 junction. Officers eventually took the female driver into custody in the same neighborhood, near Pala Mesa in San Diego County.
