ORANGE COUNTY, CA — The accused gunman in the deadly Saturday night shooting rampage at Club Q, a prominent Colorado Springs gathering place for the LGBTQ+ community, was born in Orange County, according to a report in Denver Gazette.

The report outlines 22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich's troubled childhood. According to the Gazette, Aldrich's biological father Aaron Brink "dabbled in drugs and worked in the porn industry," and his mother Laura Voepel was arrested multiple times.

The outlet reported that the pair divorced in September 2001, when Aldrich was around 16-months-old.

According to the Gazette, which cites Texas court records, Aldrich was born Nicholas Franklin Brink and had his name changed in 2016—during a time when he was apparently being bullied online—to Anderson Lee Aldrich.

It is not clear whether any part of Aldrich's upbringing is related to the attack at Club Q, where Colorado Springs police say five were killed and at least 18 injured in Saturday night's shooting.

Officers arrived at exactly midnight and Aldrich was taken into custody minutes later, according to police.

“Colorado Springs is once again in mourning after the tragic shooting at Club Q late last night," Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers said Tuesday. "Our hearts go out to the victims and their families who are bearing the weight of this horrific tragedy."
