The loss leaves only one Michelin-star holder remaining in the county, according to The Orange County Register.

COSTA MESA, CA — A Costa Mesa eatery has lost its Michelin star, The Orange County Register recently reported.

“Our commitment remains unchanged; to provide an exceptional dining experience rooted in thoughtful hospitality, culinary excellence and continuous improvement,” Knife Pleat owners Yassmin Sarmadi and chef Tony Esnault said in a statement, the Register reported.

Sarmadi and Esnault also expressed appreciation for the years of Michelin recognition, according to the newspaper.

Orange County recently had three one-star Michelin restaurants open at the same time, the Register reported, including Hana re in Costa Mesa, which lost its star last year, and the now-closed Taco María, also in Costa Mesa.
