ANAHEIM, CA — The Anaheim Police Department is in the business of saving Christmas this year, according to Anaheim Police Sgt. Shane Carringer. Yesterday an unlucky resident called us after having a package stolen.

"Lucky for us, the victim got a good vehicle description," Carringer wrote on social media. And, luckily for the victim, Sergeant Gonzalez was working.

Gonzalez quickly located a car matching the description and discovered it was occupied by two juvenile suspects.

Not only did they place both suspects under arrest for their crimes, but they also went the extra mile for those who otherwise would have faced delays in holiday orders.

"A total of 15 packages from five different victims were recovered," Carringer said.

All were returned to their rightful owners.

What To Do If Your Packages Are Pirated?

If you believe your packages from Amazon, or another carrier, are stolen off your porch, you do have recourse, according to an Amazon.com spokesperson.

According to Amazon, if your tracking information shows a package was delivered, but you can't find it within 48 hours of delivery:

  • Verify the shipping address in your orders.
  • Look for a notice of attempted delivery.
  • Look around the delivery location for your package.
  • See if someone else accepted delivery unless you have health or safety concerns about doing so.
  • Some packages travel through multiple carriers, so check your mailbox, or wherever else you could receive mail.
  • Wait 48 hours. Then contact Amazon or the seller directly for assistance if placed through a third party
