FULLERTON, CA — An improvised explosive device exploded nearby a Denny's Restaurant at South Harbor Boulevard and Orangethorpe Avenue, police said. The Orange County Sheriff's Department Bomb Squad located a second explosive device at the scene and have rendered it safe, they said.

At approximately 9 a.m., a suspect was allegedly holding a "pipe bomb" that "exploded on his arm and face," Patch has learned. There were no other victims in that incident, though the Denny's and other nearby businesses were evacuated.

Fullerton police were called to the 1100 block of South Harbor Boulevard and found the victim with severe injuries, Fullerton police Lt. Jon Radus said.
