ANAHEIM, CA โ€” One Downtown Disney eatery is closing up shop after serving Disneyland park-goers and community members since 2001.

La Brea Bakery closed its Downtown Disney location after more than two decades of operation. The bakery was one of the original businesses at Downtown Disney when it opened in 2001.

โ€œAspire Bakeries has made the difficult decision to permanently close La Brea Bakery Cafe,โ€ a company memo said on Facebook. โ€œWhile this is the right move for our business, decisions that impact our people are never easy to make.โ€

La Brea Bakery is closing its flagship Los Angeles store on La Brea Avenue and exiting the restaurant business altogether, the memo said.

According to a report published by the Orange County Register, the storefront may be replaced with either an Earl of Sandwich or a Porto's pop-up location.

"As we hand in our keys, we are filled with gratitude. We are so thankful for our Cafรฉ employees, and for our customers that have frequented the La Brea Bakery Cafรฉs in Los Angeles and Downtown Disney over the years," the memo said. "These communities are part of our history, and we will forever appreciate your support of La Brea Bakery."
