Latest Orange County Coronavirus Updates: 711 Cases, 13 Deaths

As of Friday, an additional 57 cases of coronavirus were reported.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — On Friday, during Orange County's coronavirus shutdown, an additional 57 cases were reported, bringing the total number of those infected by the virus up to 711, up from the number of cases confirmed in Orange County on Thursday.

More residents succumbed to the virus, bringing the death toll up to 13.

There are 103 patients currently hospitalized and of those, 44 are currently in intensive care, OC Healthcare reported. The hospitals where people have been admitted into care were not released.

Of those who have died:

  • 7 were over the age of 65-years old.
  • 2 were between 25-34 years old.
  • 1 person was between 35-44 years old
  • 3 were between 45-64 years old.

The majority of the deceased were men, they reported.

Currently, in Orange County, 8,727 people have been tested and there are 1,072 tests available for specimen testing.

As the number of cases grow, laboratories developing coronavirus antibody tests may help end quarantine for some.

Signs and Symptoms

If you are showing symptoms, such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath, self-isolate within your home, and stay away from loved ones.

If you are an employer or employee at an essential location, stay home.

"You should self-isolate until you have symptom improvement, and your fever has not returned for 72-hours," OC Healthcare advises. "Self-isolation should last for at least 7 days."

If your symptoms get worse, call your doctor. If your symptoms are dire, such as pain in your chest, inability to draw breath, call 911.
