Disneyland Investigated In Legionnaires' Outbreak That Killed 1

Reports say that three other Orange County residents who did not visit the park were also stricken. One of them died.

Health officials in Orange County are investigating 12 cases of Legionnaires' Disease, according to reports, at least one of which was fatal. Nine of the cases were found in people who had visited Disneyland in September.

The others were found in Orange County residents who had not visited the park. One of those people reportedly died.

The Orange County Register, which first reported the outbreak, quotes a health official saying that the people infected are between 52 and 94 years old.

Legionnaires' is a disease often transmitted through drops of water in the air and causes a severe form of pneumonia that can be fatal.

As a result of the outbreak, Disneyland shut down two cooling towers that were found to be contaminated with the bacteria that causes the disease, according to the LA Times.

The paper says that the towers are located near the New Orleans Square Train Station and removed from areas that can be reached by guests.

Reports say that there is no ongoing risk as a result of the outbreak.
