Orange County Animal Abuse Case: 1 Arrested, Dog Safe

The 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of kicking and punching at a dog in an Anaheim apartment complex.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A 33-year-old man wanted on suspicion of kicking and punching a dog in an Anaheim apartment complex turned himself into police Thursday morning, Sgt. Shane Carringer of the Anaheim Police Department told Patch.

Albert Frank Abad Jr. turned himself in to Anaheim police officers at about 1:30 a.m. He was arrested on suspicion of felony animal cruelty, Carringer said.

"He's probably in the process of being bailed out now," Carringer told City News Service.

Police received copies of doorbell camera video on Sept. 15 showing a man kicking and punching an all-black golden doodle, he said.

Abad dropped off the all-black golden doodle, Steeler, at a veterinary clinic in Los Angeles before turning himself in, Carringer said.

The video went viral on social media.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call detectives at 714-321-3669.
