FULLERTON, CA — A 28-year-old man believed to have been shot in a Fullerton alley later died at a hospital, authorities said Thursday morning.

Officers discovered the victim laying in an alley near the 3000 block of Topaz Lane just before midnight, Wednesday. The man sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the Fullerton Police Department.

Detectives believe the victim was shot in the 3100 block of Garnet Lane and stumbled about a block to the alley where he was found by officers, police said.

Officers and paramedics administered first aid and the victim was taken to a hospital where he died.

The name of the victim was not immediately released.
