SANTA ANA, CA — Flames shot through the roof of a Santa Ana business complex Wednesday night. The five-alarm fire destroyed the two-story building and vehicles nearby Wednesday evening in Santa Ana, but no one was injured.
The fire was reported around 9 p.m. at 1540 E. Edinger Ave., said Capt. Larry Kurtz of the Orange County Fire Authority.
Firefighters arrived to the scene of flames through the roof of the building, which housed 16 units, according to Kurtz.

"At that point, our objective was to hold the fire at the building of origin," Kurtz said of the surround and drown situation.
Firefighters were also concerned with flying embers starting other fires, which prompted units to patrol the area and make certain no other fires were started, Kurtz said.

The 90 firefighters worked the scene for just over two hours to put out the blaze.
The cause of the fire was under investigation and Kurtz expected crews to remain at the scene conducting mop-up operations and checking for hot spots until early Thursday morning.
The intersection of Edinger and Grand avenues was closed for the investigation and cleanup.
