OC Girl Scouts Host Nov. 17th Food Drive - You Can Help!

Girl Scouts of Orange County (GSOC) is hosting a brand new food drive to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County – the Girl Scouts CAN DO! food drive.

According to Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, there are hundreds of thousands of people, including one in six children, who are at risk of hunger each month in the OC. And while many food drives, including Girl Scouts CAN DO!, take place just before the holidays, hunger is a year-round issue. Girl Scouts are working hard to stock the shelves at Second Harvest Food Bank and ensure that all OC residents have nutritious food to eat.

“Since our girl-led organization’s founding in 1912, Girl Scouts have promised to help people at all times. Helping others is part of our Girl Scout DNA. The 2018 Girl Scouts CAN DO! food drive is an excellent opportunity for Girl Scouts and OC residents to work together in service to the community, to put an end to food-insecurity in Orange County,” says Vikki Shepp, Girl Scouts of Orange County CEO.

Hundreds of OC Girl Scouts have taken leadership roles in the Girl Scouts CAN DO! food drive, and are participating in one or more ways:

• Organizing Mini Drives in Their Neighborhoods and at Their Schools
• Volunteering at a Collection Site
• Door-to-Door Collections

How YOU Can Help

OC residents are invited to support the Girl Scouts CAN DO! food drive by donating non-perishable goods on November 17th. Food donations can be delivered to any of the seven drop-off locations throughout Orange County on November 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.:
