Detectives Seek Public Help To ID Pedestrian At Fatal Crash Scene

STANTON, CA —Orange County sheriff's detectives are asking for public assistance to identify a pedestrian who allegedly jaywalked and contributed to a fatal crash in Stanton that left a motorcyclist dead.

The crash that killed the unidentified motorcyclist occurred around 10 a.m. near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Katella Avenue, the OCSD reported.

The pedestrian was described as a white or Hispanic man between 30 and 35 years old. He was 6 feet tall with scruffy facial hair and a thin build, the OCSD said. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and black pants, the OCSD reported. He left the scene without talking to deputies.

According to the OCSD, the pedestrian crossed the street outside of a crosswalk causing oncoming traffic to brake suddenly. While the vehicles avoided hitting the man, a motorcyclist in his 50s died after colliding with the rear of one of the vehicles.

The motorcyclist died at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information about the pedestrian's identity was asked to call the OCSD at 714-647-7000.
