Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Vehicle In OC; Motorist Sought By Police

The hit-and-run was called in at about 8 p.m. Wednesday in Santa Ana, authorities said.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run in Santa Ana, and police Thursday asked for the public's help in finding the motorist.

The person was injured at about 8 p.m. Wednesday in the 2800 block of West Fire Street, and he died at a hospital, the Santa Ana Police Department said. His name was not immediately released.

"Preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was walking north, crossing First Street when he was struck by a vehicle traveling west on First Street," police said in a statement."The vehicle involved in this collision fled from the scene before officers arrived," police said.

"The vehicle, along with the driver remain outstanding. Additionally, it is unknown if alcohol played a factor in this collision. However, the cause of the collision remains under investigation."

No description was released of the suspect or vehicle.
