64-Year-Old Man Dies After Hit By Train In Orange County
The man was near the tracks when a train approached and he tried to walk away but was struck, police said.

IRVINE, CA — A man died Monday morning after being struck on the Metrolink tracks between Irvine and Tustin, according to a spokesperson for the commuter rail system.
Metrolink tweeted about the incident shortly after 7:30 a.m., and the spokesperson said that the tracks had reopened two hours later.
The victim was a 64-year-old from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, according to Irvine police, who said the man was near the tracks when a train approached and that he tried to walk away but was struck. No passengers were hurt and authorities are not pursuing charges, police said.

The collision stopped Orange County Line 607 to Los Angeles and forced the cancelation of Orange County Line 682 to Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo, according to MetroLink. Orange County Line 687 to Los Angeles was set to start in Tustin as a result of the closed track, the rail system tweeted. Passengers on all three lines were offered an Uber voucher for up to $50.
