Public Meeting Re Long-Range Housing/Mobility Plan Set For Monday
25-year 'visioning' plan Connect SoCal looks to balance future mobility/housing needs with economic, environmental and public health goals

LOS ANGELES – The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) has released a draft of their Regional Transportation Plan/Sustainable Communities Strategy, covering the period from 2020 to 2045.
The draft, entitled Connect SoCal, is being presented to elected officials and the public at a series of meetings, two of which will take place in Orange County on Monday, December 9.
The meetings will be held at the Orange County Transportation Authority’s offices at 550 South Main Street, Orange. The two-hour meetings are scheduled to take place in Conference Room 9 at 9am and 11am and are open to the public. Reservations are not required.

In a released statement SCAG believes that the Draft Connect SoCal plan presents a long-range vision that balances future mobility and housing needs with economic, environmental and public health goals. It will help guide the region’s growth, and includes transportation improvements and land use ideas to shape the future of Southern California.
The comment period for the Draft Plan is open until January 20. During the comment period, SCAG will host a total of 21 briefings throughout the region for elected officials and the public. The briefings will serve as an opportunity to inform elected officials, stakeholders and interested citizens on the key investments and strategies in the draft plan and solicit feedback.

This week briefings will also take place in Los Angeles, Culver City, San Diego and Riverside. SCAG will also hold a briefing on Saturday morning for those unable to attend the weekday sessions.
