3 Shot In Swanky High-rise Apartments, Cops Seeking Suspects

Santa Ana Police sought additional victims and a suspect after a shooting at the upscale apartment building on MacArthur Place.

SANTA ANA, CA —A shooting occurred at the Essex Skyline apartments off MacArthur Place in Santa Ana, near the intersection of the 5 and 4o5 freeways, Wednesday afternoon.

"Santa Ana police are currently working a shooting at 9 Macarthur Place," Cpl. Anthony Bertagna reported over Twitter.

Three people sustained gunshot wounds, and their conditions are not known as of this report.

Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Blaine Morgan said three male patients were taken to an area hospital, but he did not have details about the severity of their injuries.

One victim was found on the ground floor of the 9 MacArthur Place building, and one was found on the 15th floor, Bertagna told Patch. One of the victims may be a juvenile. It is not yet known if they knew each other.

As of 5:30 p.m., there remained heavy police activity in the area according to witnesses.

No description of a suspect was released as of this report.

All were asked to stay away from MacArthur Place if at all possible, until further notice.
