• California district weighs selling 40% of State Water allotment for 4,000-home project (thecooldown.com) — A 4,000-home Solomon Hills development is proposed just south of Orcutt, and it hinges partly on Montecito Water District possibly selling about 40% of its State Water allotment. The deal, worth up to $40 million, would fund water for the project while shifting Montecito further toward desalination, and still faces extensive environmental review and approvals that Orcutt-area residents may want to track closely.
