Alleged Peninsula Gunman Jailed For Attempted Murder

Sheriff's officials allege that a man was shot twice by the suspect.

A Moss Beach man remained jailed Wednesday on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly shot another man earlier this week. The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office says 50-year-old Edward Wilson was arrested Monday night after they found a man who had been shot two times in his upper body area.

According to sheriff's Det. Salvador Zuno, deputies responded at about 10:30 p.m. to the 900 block of Etheldore Street following a call that there was a man with a gun. When they arrived, they found a man in his 50s suffering from two bullet wounds. Sheriff's officials said deputies gave the man first aid and got him to an ambulance.

"Through information from witnesses and on scene investigation, Deputies learned the suspect shot the victim and fled on foot," Zuno said in a news release. "Deputies established a search perimeter and located and arrested the suspect a short distance away, in the 700 block of Lancaster Blvd in Moss Beach."

Wilson was taken to the county jail, where he was booked into custody without bail, jail records indicate.

Deputies allegedly found the gun used in the shooting but have not identified a motive yet.

Sheriff's officials said the victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.
