UPDATE: Two-Alarm Brush Fire 45 Percent Contained

The fire was reported near 712 Cindy Way at 3:46 p.m.

A brush fire in Pacifica that has burned around 2 and a half acres was about 45 percent contained as of about 6:20 p.m., according to fire officials.

The two-alarm fire at 712 Cindy Way was announced at 3:46 p.m.The fire is burning in an area that is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, near Fairway Park, North County Fire spokesman Clyde Preston said.

The area is very steep and has brush that is about 3 feet high, he said. There is also a lot poison oak in the area, hampering firefighting efforts, Preston said.

So far, no structures are being threatened and no evacuations have been placed, he said.

Additionally there are no major street closures and there have been no reports of any injuries. The fire is heading away from Pacifica toward San Bruno, Preston said.
