Dramatic Coast Guard Rescue Off Peninsula Caught On Camera: WATCH

A California crab fisherman was rescued by a U.S. Coast Guard crew over the weekend, and the dramatic operation was caught on camera. The agency shared footage of the man been medevaced following an injury sustained while he was working on a vessel off the coast of San Mateo County.

A member of the crew notified the Coast Guard at 10:50 a.m. Sunday when the boat was near Pescadero Point that the operator of the vessel cut a finger in a crab pot.

Coast Guard officials sent a helicopter to the 18-foot vessel where a rescue swimmer evaluated the 42-year-old man's injuries and then hoisted him to the helicopter. The rescuer worker can be seen diving into the water below, before helping get the injured fisherman hoisted to the aircraft above.

"The helicopter crew transported the man to emergency medical services personnel waiting at San Francisco International Airport," the Coast Guard said.

Coast Guard officials said a boat crew from Pillar Point Harbor towed the fishing vessel to Half Moon Bay.
