Elderly Couple Falls Off Pacifica Pier, Prompting Coast Guard Rescue

PACIFICA, CA- The U.S. Coast Guard staged a water rescue near the Pacifica Pier after an elderly couple fell off the pier into the ocean Tuesday afternoon.

The Coast Guard responded to the incident around 2 p.m., according to Lt. Marcia Medina.

The female victim had already been rescued by an unknown party by the time crews arrived at the scene and was transported to a hospital, Medina said. A male victim was rescued by a Coast Guard helicopter crew around 3:15 p.m.

Medina did not know the victims’ current condition.
