Sanchez Art Center—The public is invited to a free Artists’ Talk by Nancy Genn and Jim Melchert on Sunday, August 14, 4 pm, at the closing of their joint exhibition, “Mining the Cracks, Drips, and Markings.” The exhibit was curated by Hanna Regev, who will also participate in the Artists’ Talk. This is the first time these two artists have
shown together. Nancy Genn’s works include sculpture as well as Rainbars, a series of hanging casein-on-paper scrolls premiering in this exhibit. Melchert’s unique process involves breaking ceramic tiles, drawing on them with lines that follow or run counter to the shape of the crack, glazing and re-firing the pieces, and then reassembling them into a finished artwork. Most of his works in the exhibit are also shown for the first time. The gallery is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 1–5 pm, through Sunday, August 14. Sanchez Art Center is located at 1220
Linda Mar Blvd., Pacifica. For more information: 650-355-1894 or www.sanchezartcenter.org.
